1. Pengertian Sistem Informasi Geografi

SIG adalah sebuah sistem yang terdiri dari input data (pengambilan data) dan penyediaan, penyimpanan data, analisis data, dan output data (penyajian data sparsial).

2. 4 jenis data dalam Sistem Informasi Geografi

a. Data Sparsial

Data Sparsial adalah data yang merepresentasikan dan/atau mengidentifikasikan posisi ruang (letak geografis) dari suatu fenomena. Data spasial dapat juga digunakan untuk mengidentifikasikan lokasi seperti kode pos. Contoh : Letak suatu daerah, sumber minyak bumi, garis lintang dan garis bujur, dan lain-lain.

Data sparsial dibagi menjadi 2 :

• Data Vektor

Data Vektor adalah sebuah data yang direpresentasikan sebagai suatu bentuk mozaik berupa titik/point, garis (arc/line), polygon yaitu wilayah atau daerah yang dibatasi oleh garis awal dan akhir berada pada titik yang sama, serta nodes yaitu sebuah titik perpotongan diantara dua garis. Fungsi data vektor untuk menganalisa keakuratan posisi suatu daerah atau mendefinisikan hubungan spasial dari berbagai fitur.

• Data Raster atau data sel grid

Data Raster adalah sebuah data yang dihasilkan dari suatu sistem penginderaan jauh. Pada data raster, struktur sel grid yang mereprensetasikan objek geografis yang disebut pixel (picture element). Resolusi pada data raster tergantung pada ukuran pixelnya. Resolusi menggambarkan suatu ukuran sebenarnya di permukaan bumi yang diwakili oleh pixel pada citra satelit.

b. Data Atribut

Data Atribut adalah data yang menjabarkan aspek dari suatu fenomena dalam bentuk deskripsi atau penjelasan yang terperinci. Data atribut tergambar dalam bentuk kata-kata, angka, serta tabel. Contoh : kepadatan penduduk, data luas wilayah, jenis-jenis tanah, data demografis, dan sebagainya.

3. Tujuan Penggunaan Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG)

a. Di lingkup individu: SIG sangat efektif membantu proses pembentukan, pengembangan, atau perbaikan peta mental yang telah dimiliki oleh setiap orang yang berdampingan dengan dunia nyata.

b. Di lingkup pendidikan: SID akan lebih efektif digunakan sebagai sebuah alat bantu paling utama dalam usaha untuk meningkatkan pemahaman, pengertian dan pembelajaran tentang ide atau konsep lokasi, ruang, kependudukan dan informasi geografis lainnya.

c. Di lingkup penelitian: SIG dapat memberikan gambaran yang lengkap dan akurat terhadap suatu masalah nyata yang terkait dengan data spasial permukaan bumi. Selain itu, SIG juga mempunyai kemampuan baik dalam memvisualkan sebuah data spasial. Sehingga mempermudah dalam modifikasi warna, bentuk, dan ukuran simbol yang diperlukan untuk menggambarkan unsur-unsur permukaan bumi. Pengguna atau konsumen dapat menginterpretasikan data yang diperoleh dengan SIG secara manual.

Sistem Informasi Geografi (SIG) adalah sistem berbasis komputer yang digunakan untuk menyimpan, memanipulasi, dan menganalisis informasi geografi. Namun, kali ini kita akan membahas mengenai jenis data sistem informasi geografis. Ada dua jenis data, yaitu data raster dan data vektor. Berikut ini penjelasannya.

Pada dasarnya, data SIG dapat dibagi menjadi dua jenis, yaitu data raster dan data vektor. Kedua data ini merupakan data yang esensial dan memiliki kesatuan fungsi dalam SIG.

Model data raster ini menampilkan, menempatkan, dan menyimpan data spasial dengan menggunakan struktur matriks atau piksel-piksel yang membentuk grid. Setiap piksel atau sel ini memiliki atribut tersendiri, termasuk koordinatnya yang unik. Akurasi model data ini sangat bergantung pada resolusi atau ukuran pikselnya (sel grid) di permukaan bumi.

Data raster memberikan informasi spasial apa yang terjadi di mana saja dalam bentuk gambaran yang digeneralisasi. Dengan data ini, dunia nyata disajikan sebagai elemen matriks atau sel-sel grid yang homogen. Dengan model data raster, data geografi ditandai oleh nilai (bilangan elemen matriks persegi panjang dari suatu objek). Dengan demikian, secara konseptual, model data raster merupa-kan model data spasial yang paling sederhana.

Kelebihan Data Raster

Memiliki struktur data yang sederhana.
Mudah dimanipulasi dengan menggunakan fungsi-fungsi matematis sederhana karena strukturnya sederhana seperti matrik bilanganbilangan biasa.
Compatible dengan citra-citra satelit pengindraan jauh dan semua image hasil scanning data spasial.
Overlay dan kombinasi data spasial raster dengan data indraja mudah dilakukan.
Memiliki kemampuan-kemampuan pemodelan dan analisis spasial tingkat lanjut.
Metode untuk mendapatkan citra raster lebih mudah (baik melalui scanning) dengan scanner segala ukuran yang sudah beredar luas, maupun dengan menggunakan citra satelit atau konversi dari format vektor.
Gambaran permukaan bumi dalam bentuk citra raster yang didapat dari radar atau satelit pengindraan jauh ( landsat, spot, ikonos, dan lain-lain) selalu lebih aktual daripada bentuk vektornya.

Secara umum memerlukan ruang atau tempat penyimpanan (disk) yang besar di komputer, banyak terjadi redundancy, data baik untuk setiap layernya maupun secara keseluruhan.

Pengguna sel atau ukuran grid yang lebih besar untuk menghemat ruang penyimpanan akan menyebabkan kehilangan informasi dan ketelitian.

Sebuah citra raster hanya mengandung satu tematik saja––sulit digabungkan dengan atribut-atribut lainnya dalam satu layer. Dengan demikian, untuk mempresentasikan atribut-atribut tambahan, juga diperlukan layer baru––timbul lagi redundancy data secara keseluruhan.

Tampilan atau representatif dan akurasi posisinya sangat bergantung pada ukuran pikselnya (resolusi spasial).

Sering mengalami kesalahankesalahan dalam menggambarkan bentuk dari garis-garis batas-batas suatu objek (karena itu jarang digunakan untuk penentuan batasbatas administrasi dan tanah milik)– sangat bergantung pada resolusi spasialnya dan toleransi yang diberikan.

Transformasi koordinat dan proyeksi lebih sulit dilakukan.

Sangat sulit untuk mempresentasikan hubungan topologi (juga network).

2. Data Vektor

Model data vektor menampilkan, menempatkan, dan menyimpan data spasial dengan menggunakan titik, garisgaris atau kurva atau poligon beserta atribut-atributnya. Bentuk bentuk dasar representasi data spasial ini, di dalam sistem model data vektor, didefinisikan oleh sistem koordinat kartesian dua dimensi (x, y).

Dalam model data spasial vektor, garis-garis atau kurva (busur atau area) merupakan sekumpulan titik titik terurut yang dihubungkan. Sedangkan luas atau poligon juga disimpan sebagai sekumpulan lis titik-titik. Tetapi dengan catatan bahwa titik awal dan titik akhir poligon memiliki nilai kordinat yang sama (poligon tertutup sempurna).

Kelebihan Data Vektor

Prosedur untuk memperoleh data dalam bentuk raster (atau citra) lebih mudah, sederhana, dan murah.
Memerlukan ruang atau tempat penyimpanan (disk) yang lebih sedikit di komputer.
Satu layer dapat dikaitkan dengan atau mengandung banyak atribut sehingga dapat menghemat ruang penyimpanan secara keseluruhan.
Dengan banyak atribut yang dapat dikandung oleh satu layer, banyak peta tematik lain (layer) yang dapat dihasilkan sebagai peta turunannya.
Hubungan topologi dan network dapat dilakukan dengan mudah.
Memiliki resolusi spasial yang tinggi.
Representatif gratis data spasialnya sangat mirip dengan peta garis buatan tangan manusia.
Memiliki batas-batas yang teliti, tegas, dan jelas sehingga sangat baik untuk pembuatan peta-peta administrasi dan persil tanah milik.
Transformasi koordinat dan proyeksi tidak sulit dilakukan.

Metode untuk mendapatkan format data vektor melalui proses yang lama, cukup melelahkan (baik proses digitasi pada instrumen/ instrument fotogrametri digital on screen digitizing langsung di layer monitor komputer, maupun proses digitasi di meja digitizer), dan relatif mahal.
Memiliki struktur data yang kompleks.
Datanya tidak mudah untuk dimanipulasi.
Pengguna tidak mudah berkreasi membuat programnya sendiri untuk memenuhi kebutuhan aplikasinya. Hal ini disebabkan oleh stuktur data vektor yang lebih kompleks dan prosedur-prosedur fungsi dan analisisnya memerlukan kemampuan yang tinggi karena lebih sulit
