Each time you create a Microsoft Advertising account, you need to select the currency you will use to pay your advertising costs.

Each time you create a Microsoft Advertising account, you need to select the currency you will use to pay your advertising costs. Choose your currency carefully because currency can affect your billing options. Also, after an account is set up, the currency setting cannot be changed. If you run multiple advertising campaigns and need to pay in different currencies, that’s no problem. You just need to set up one account per currency. Currency is one of a few reasons you might need or want to set up separate accounts in Microsoft Advertising. For more information, see How should I organize my accounts and campaigns?

You can pay for Microsoft Advertising using one of nine currencies available globally, excluding Brazil and India. There may be a few more currencies available for use in your country/region.

You can pay for your advertising costs using the following currencies in all markets (excluding Brazil and India):

  • Euro (EUR)
  • Hong Kong dollar (HKD)
  • Mexican peso (MXN)

* Brazilian real is only available in Brazil. Indian rupee is only available in India. No other currencies are accepted in those countries.

Don’t see your currency in the list above? You might still be able to advertise with Microsoft Advertising. Check with the financial institution that issues your card to make sure that they allow international transactions. If they do, you can select any currency that your financial institution can convert into your local currency.

How currency (and country) affect your billing options

Depending on your country-currency combination, you have different options for paying and some restrictions. For example, only German-Euro accounts can use SEPA direct debit, and India-Indian rupee accounts cannot use debit cards. Also, if you want to pay in Brazilian real or Indian rupee, then your billing address must be in Brazil or India, respectively.

What can I do if I selected the wrong currency?

If you set up an account and need to change the currency, you will need to set up a new account. If you have campaigns, ad groups, ads, and settings in the old account, then you will want to export them from the old account and import them into the new one.

  1. From the top menu, select Tools > Accounts.
  2. On the Account Summary tab, click Create account.
  3. Enter the information for the new account, selecting the currency that you want to change to.
  4. Click Create.

  2. From the left panel, under Selected Account, select your old account.
  3. In the table, select all of the campaigns that you want to import into your new account.
  4. Click Export and save the .csv file.

  1. At the top of the page, click Import Campaigns, and then Import from file.
  2. Click Browse and select the file that you exported, and then click Continue.
  3. Under Review Column Matching, click Continue.
  4. Under Choose Microsoft Advertising Account & Import Options, select the new account you created, select the time zone, and then click Import.
