How do I change my CPC?

Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) training is continual professional development which carries on throughout a professional bus, coach or lorry driver's career. Once you pass your Driver CPC, you'll be issued with a Driver Qualification Card (DQC).

Receiving a DQC

A DQC will be issued to new drivers automatically on successfully passing the Driver CPC initial qualification. It will be sent to the address on your driving licence, so make sure that your details are up-to-date with the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA).

  • Driver Certificate of Professional Competence
  • Keeping your driving licence up-to-date

By this time you are required to have completed your first 35 hours of periodic training. On completing the 35 hours training, a DQC will be issued to drivers that hold a Northern Ireland photocard licence.

Carrying proof of your Driver CPC status

You must always carry your DQC as evidence of your Driver CPC status while driving professionally. If you don't, you will be liable for penalties.

The Driver CPC is enforced in all European Union (EU) member states. If you are driving in another EU country, you must still hold a valid Driver CPC, and carry your DQC, unless you have an exemption.

Lost and stolen cards - applying for a replacement DQC

If your DQC has been lost, stolen or damaged, you must report it to DVA immediately.

You can apply for a replacement card by contacting the DVA:

  • contact Driver & Vehicle Agency - Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) section

There is a £25 fee to replace and issue new cards.

For GB licence holders information is available from the following links:

  • Driver CPC: your Driver Qualification Card (DQC) - GOV.UK website
  • Non UK, EU and third country licence holders within Driver CPC - GOV.UK website

Driving while you wait for a replacement

You can continue to drive professionally while you wait for your new DQC to arrive. If it does not arrive within 15 days of you making the application, contact the DVA to confirm your application has been received and is being processed.

You should keep a copy of correspondence and get certificates of posting (which are free of charge for letters posted at a Post Office), as evidence of when you contacted the DVA.

To remove your apprentice designation via on-the-job experience, you must obtain and submit two letters of recommendation verifying at least two years of on-the-job experience (externships accepted) using the CPT®, ICD-10-CM, or HCPCS Level II code sets. One letter must be on letterhead from your employer*, the other may be from a co-worker. Experience includes time coding for a previous employer and prior to certification. Both letters are required to be signed and will need to outline your coding experience and amount of time in that capacity. Download our Apprentice Removal Template for easier submission. Letterhead and signatures are still required when using this template.

OR

Submit proof showing completion of at least 80 contact hours of a coding preparation course (not CEUs) AND one letter, on letterhead, signed from your employer verifying one year of on-the-job experience (externships accepted) using the CPT®, ICD-10-CM, or HCPCS Level II code sets.

Send proof of education in the form of a letter from an instructor on school letterhead stating you have completed 80 or more contact hours, a certificate/diploma stating at least 80 contact hours, or an unofficial school transcript.

Proof of education or experience isn’t necessary to sit for the exam. It should only be submitted (via fax or as a scanned attachment to an email) once ALL apprentice removal requirements have been met.

Please allow 2-4 weeks for processing.

* Employers can only verify time spent coding with their organization. Proof of experience letters may be from previous employers, current employers, or a combination of both.

Targeting your Campaign

To get an idea of how many customers will view your content in our network, take a look at the Reach Estimator on the right-hand sidebar.

How do I change my CPC?

This tool provides 30-day potential reach, allowing you to make smarter targeting decisions. When submitting a campaign or optimizing an existing one, determine if your potential reach is too broad or too specific, and make adjustments accordingly. Currently, the estimator takes audience segments, location targeting (country-, region-, and state-level only), and device targeting into consideration.

Audience Segments

If you have already set up custom audience segments, the option to add and/or exclude segments per campaign will appear. Click into each segment box and add or exclude any previously created segments. Please note that we recommend a minimum segment size of 100K users before targeting a campaign to a custom segment.

Location Targeting

Target your campaigns to a country, state/region, U.S. DMA, or postal code of choice to reach the most relevant audience. Simply type the name or postal code of the area(s) you wish to focus on to add the location to your campaign.

You may also exclude locations if you do not want your content to be served in a specific location(s). With this feature, you can target broad geos and exclude certain locations within them. Please note that the reach estimator does not support exclusions at this time. Therefore, the scale may be more limited than displayed.

To target or exclude multiple locations at once, download the template and fill out the fields accordingly. You are able to upload up to 7,000 postal codes to one campaign.

There is one template for importing location inclusions/exclusions with the following headers:

  • Location Type (country, region, DMA, postal code) – mandatory to enter
  • Location Name – relevant for country, region, DMA
  • Country Initials – relevant for postal codes
  • Postal Code – relevant for postal codes

*Please leave irrelevant cells empty*
