What is the word of god compared to
Greetings to you I bring my dear friends in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ Our Redeemer! Dear friends, as I take you to another article of mine for the day, the above topic says that “The word of God is likened to seven images found in the bible.” Let us take a look at what the word of God has to say to each one of us through His Word?

What is the word of god compared to
Dear friends, as we take a look at the above title, the word of God is likened to seven images found in the bible. Let us take a look and go step by step and see the seven images that the word of God is likened to. First the Bible is referred to as The Double Edged Sword. It is written in Hebrews 4:12, ”For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”  Yes, my friends. The word of God is indeed like the Double Edged Sword. Because when we read and meditate the word of God, it penetrates by dividing the soul and spirit, joints and marrow. The word of God judges our thoughts and the attitudes of the heart. The word of God will convict each and everyone of us because it is a living and active word. So, if you are convicted of all your wrong doing do repent and thank God that His word has convicted you.

Friends, second the word of God is likened to as Fire. It is written in the book of the Old Testament in the book of the prophet Jeremiah 23:29, “Is not my word like fire,” declares the LORD.” Yes, my friends, the word of God is like Fire. Does not the word of God burns within us when we read the word and meditate on it. Does not the word burn like fire when the servant of God brings the word to the people in the church. Does it not burn within you like fire when the word of God that is preached by the priest was meant for you, friends? Remember the word of God is meant for teaching, rebuking, correcting and to discipline the children of God.

Dear friends, thirdly the word of God is likened to a Hammer. It is written in the book of the prophet Jeremiah 23:29, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?” Friends, what does a hammer do? We all know that it is used to break things that are locked. Here the word of God says that it is used to break rock into pieces. Friends, many of our hearts have turned into rocks and we have strayed and swayed away from God and His word. Only by the word of God can our hearts that have turned into rocks can be broken into pieces by the hammer which is the word of God. The word of God crushes our hearts so that we will turn back to God in repentance.

Friends, fourth the word of God is likened to a Lamp and Light. Is is found in the book of Psalms 119:105, as it is written, “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.”  Friends, we are indeed in total darkness if we do not have the word of God within us. We will be walking in the path of darkness that will lead us into many problems. God’s word is like a lamp to your feet and a light that will brighten your path so that you do not take the wrong path in your life. As we read and meditate the word of God in our life it will keep us from stumbling in the dark. So, my friends make sure that the word of God is like a lamp and light unto you.

What is the word of god compared to
Friends, fifth the word of God is likened to as Food. It is found in the book of the New Testament in the gospel of St Matthew 4:4 as it is written, “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” and it is also found in 1 Pet 1:25-2:2: “But the word of the Lord stands forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you. Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” Friends, we must always stand on the word of God. It is not physical food that will save us but the spiritual food that is the word of God that comes out from the mouth of God.God’s word is like pure spiritual milk and that by it you may grow in your salvation.

What is the word of god compared to
Dear friends, six the word of God is likened to a Seed. It is written in the book of 1 Pet 1:23: – For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” Yes, my dear friends, the word of God is like a Seed that is planted within us. We are to cultivate the seed that is the word of God within us. It has to be on good soil and the type of soil depends on us. What kind of a soil are we so that the word of God that is the seed can grow within us. Remember not to let the devil to steal away the seed that is the word of God that is within you.

What is the word of god compared to
Friends, finally the seventh image that the word of God is likened to is the Mirror. It is written in the book of James 1:22-25: – “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.” Friends, as we can see the word of God is like a mirror. As we read and meditate on the word of God it reflects to us as a mirror. Are we who we really are? We will see our real self that is the man in the mirror when the word of God convicts who we really are.

Dearly beloved friends, let us not take the word of God so lightly into our lives. It is the Living Word of God. It is the Truth. Do take the word of God seriously into your life. Have a Blessed Day.

God Bless.
