The primary grades are Early Childhood Services, including Kindergarten, through Grade Three. Education has a number of resources to support the teaching and learning for these children in recognition that these early grades lay the foundation for future school success.

What is k3 in school

Early childhood is a significant period in human development. Independence, initiative, decision making, creativity, the ability to learn, the ability to relate to others and feelings of self-worth all have their beginnings in early childhood. What young children learn at this stage will have a major impact on their successful learning experiences in school, on their personal development and on their future participation in society.

The term primary grades describes the Kindergarten to Grade 3 years in elementary school; it is not a separate or additional curriculum. During this phase of schooling, children experience rapid growth and development. They arrive in school from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of experiences and make the significant transition from the home to the school environment. During this period, the task of formalizing students’ learning experiences begins as the foundation is laid for later learning. Students’ early experiences in school help form their identities as learners.

A key purpose of the primary grades is to help students develop a solid base of literacy, numeracy and social skills that will provide a foundation for later success. The outcomes in the provincial programs of study are intended to engage students in rich learning experiences in which they develop understandings that both relate to and make connections across specific subject areas.

Victory Baptist School began as a preschool and kindergarten over twenty-five years ago, and we understand that the social and emotional development of a child is vital to success in life.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

At VBS we want to help guide our three and four year olds to regulate emotions and behavior, participate in group situations, and establish positive relationships. The Word of God is the foundation of all learning, and Bible time is the most important part of the day. Chapel is once a month and is an opportunity to engage students with a relevant lesson applicable to their life.

Our devoted and experienced teachers use the Bible-based, A Beka Book curriculum to teach phonics, numbers, writing, and language development. Students enjoy the many hands-on activities, many of which are STEM-based lessons, which include art and music. The action-filled environment stimulates and encourages an excitement for learning. It is our desire to provide an atmosphere in which a child will grow and develop a love for God and learning.
