As the title says. Turn on screen recording then try using your phone. It’ll run at a full 120Hz all the time.

Works only on 13Pro and Pro Max (obviously)

EDIT: For those of us who want to get a brief taste of how iOS would feel like, if Pro Motion was locked all the way up to 120Hz at all times.

Basically it locks Pro Motion at a full 120Hz and it stays up for the entire time till you stop recording.

Of course it isn’t a viable option to use your phone but still I found it intriguing

Does it record at 120 fps? Or does it discard half of the frames for 60 fps?

I love higher refresh rate but I also love the incredible battery life on the 13 Pro. I just wish Apple gave the user the choice on what mode (variable vs native) we can choose. That being said I’m still not sure if I would use the latter or not.

Apple won’t give people choices that will affect the product experience. If idiots start turning on 120Hz and then they start complaint about battery life sucking to friends then it looks bad for apple so they won’t do this.

My girlfriend says she just can’t understand what she is supposed to be looking for. It’s impossible for me to even explain it because no matter how in depth I explain it; she doesn’t understand. I’m lost, because I can tell (I’m a computer guy) but she can’t?

As opposed to what? I really don't understand - ProMotion is supposed to seamlessly switch to lower rates when not necessary, but I never noticed that it does - is there something specific that's only visible when you indeed turn on screen recording?

Basically the frame rate will be locked at 120Hz and you can slightly tell a difference tbh.

Apple’s implementation is really good, but when you use screen recording you’ll see your phone get a tad bit smoother and more seamless.. simply coz it’s now locked at a full 120Hz
