More information on the releases of Karrion Kross, Scarlett Bordeaux and Mia Yim has come to the surface as WWE deals with the fallout of its latest roster cuts.

Fightful Select reported that Kross' main-roster retooling—which eliminated Scarlett as his valet and repackaged his entrance and ring gear—was the idea of WWE creative. The report also says that Kross "immediately" had heat backstage, but it does not delve into the reasoning.

It was clear Kross was unhappy with his direction after leaving NXT. He ripped the helmet he was given by WWE creative for his ring entrance. WWE's handling of Kross on the main roster has to be considered one of the biggest botches in recent memory, as it seemed he and Scarlett had a gimmick that was ready-made for stardom.

The Fightful report says WWE had planned for Scarlett to transition to being a wrestler on Raw or SmackDown, but those plans were quickly scrapped. Scarlett was a valet in NXT but is an in-ring veteran on the independent circuit. While she's never been an elite in-ring worker, her character work is superb.

Kross and Scarlett are a couple in real life, so their next move will almost certainly be together. The pair previously had a successful run in Impact and are a decent bet to return; their style isn't a strong fit for AEW on the surface. Scarlett has a 30-day non-compete in her contract, whereas Kross has a 90-day wait ahead of him, so we may get our first hint from Scarlett on their future.

WWE reportedly also had plans on utilizing Mia Yim on the main roster after the breakup of Retribution but scrapped several different chances to make that happen. Yim was released alongside fiance Keith Lee, who had also undergone an aborted repackaging.

Lee, perhaps more than any other name released, seems like a ready-made fit for AEW. If there's one thing the company lacks, it's polished big men, and Lee's impeccable work rate for his size makes him a good fit for the roster. Yim had a previous run with Impact and could return, and she would be a fine addition to AEW's midcard.

It's a wild time in WWE at the moment, as the Triple H era of WWE Creative has resulted in several released stars making their returns to the company. Names like Dakota Kai, Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Dexter Lumis, and Hit Row have all been brought back, and so far things are going well for all involved. In a new interview with WWE After The Bell, Kross and Scarlett revealed several details on what led to their return to WWE, including the fact that Kross had almost signed a deal with the BKFC and had someone trying to get him to relocate so he could fight in the UFC. Fortunately, the call from Triple H came before he was locked into something else.

"Here's some breaking news. Daniel Gracie, who is one of our head instructors for Brazilian jiu-jitsu, he was encouraging me to re-locate to Philadelphia and fight in UFC. On top of that, while that was going on, I was speaking to David Feldman from Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and I was on the verge of taking a three-fight deal. On top of that, we were getting involved in television projects and movies and stuff like that," Kross said.

"It's kind of funny how it all worked out. It kept getting pushed back for delays and had it not, and we signed on, there is a really good chance we may have not been able to come back when we got the call," Kross said.

"We had a lot of opportunities for signing for different companies and nothing ever felt right. We had one opportunity that would have, you would have made some quick cash, but I don't think it would have been good for you long-term. It's good that we waited," Scarlett said.

It was previously reported that Kross was going to be an opponent of Wardlow's during his feud with MJF, but the report went on to say that the two sides couldn't come to an agreement.

Kross and Scarlett also talked about their return to SmackDown and what it felt like being back in WWE. "The thing I was nervous about, I was nervous that I wasn't going to feel those same butterflies anymore because I had become almost too peaceful and content not being there," Scarlett said. "Going through day by day, I was like, 'I love wrestling, I don't need it to make me happy.' At one point, my identity was completely associated with my career, that was everything about it. I was most worried coming out, 'Am I going to feel that?' Oh my God, everything is back and rushing in. It was just as special as the very first time I ever had my first match. It was perfect and amazing."

"It's really hard to find the words. To want something so bad and then to have to accept that's not the reality anymore, and then to get a call one day, out of the blue, and be offered everything you were striving for. It's pretty incredible. I remember my first match back on the Indies, after being released, I was worried what was going to happen, going into a small room after working giant arenas in WWE, whether that was going to voluntarily turn on when I heard music, and it did. Even a small group of people in a small venue in Vegas, it turned on and I was like, 'I still love this.' It didn't have to do with the bells and whistles and smoke and mirrors and all the people, I still love to do this and entertain anybody, whether it's a few people or a few thousand. You magnify that feeling, being in the arena, it was awesome. To see everybody again too, it was a good feeling," Kross said.

WWE NXT Superstar Scarlett has not been present on WWE programming for the past couple of weeks.

The manager and real-life partner of NXT Champion Karrion Kross has not been accompanying him to the ring during recent episodes of the USA Network show on Tuesday nights.

There is no official reason for the Superstar being absent; apart from that, she has not been cleared.

In a report from PWInsider, it was confirmed that Scarlett is not “currently cleared.” Whist there is nothing specifically wrong with the NXT star, she needed to take time off television for an unknown reason.

Scarlett recently worked a pre-SmackDown dark match on June 25, along with Shotzi Blackheart, who was recently brought up to WWE SmackDown alongside Tegan Nox.

Reports at the time indicated that WWE officials wanted to see several NXT Superstars in action. Despite Scarlett having not actually worked any matches on NXT programming, she was an active competitor during her time on the independents and IMPACT Wrestling.

Scarlett is still expected to making her way up to the WWE main roster alongside Karrion Kross, with the couple set to be one of the featured elements of Monday Night Raw in the future.

This Sunday, Kross will be defending his NXT Championship against Samoa Joe at the NXT Takeover 36 event on Peacock and WWE Network. It has not been confirmed if Scarlett will be returning to join Kross for the match.

Former WWE NXT Champion Karrion Kross was on a recent episode of Table Talk with WWE Hall of Famer Dvon Dudley. Kross made his RAW debut this past summer, but he did so alone without his fiancé Scarlett, who has been a major part of their act on NXT. Kross discussed Scarlett's current whereabouts.

"This is what I can say without being deliberately cryptic. We are waiting for something to finish taking its course," Kross said. "She's very good, and she's been training like a maniac, like she always does. You can expect to see her any time or any place."

It had been reported that Scarlett was not cleared, but there was no reason as to what Scarlett needed to be cleared for. Kross then talked about what it's been like to work with his fiancé.

"Much easier and I wouldn't have anticipated it. Nothing against her, it's more of a me thing," Kross admitted. "I would have anticipated it to be a lot more difficult. I've worked really sparingly in tag situations on the independents. Especially in Mexico, we had a lot of six man's. It was a great way to showcase a lot of people all at once. Sometimes, that can be a headache, working with other performers.

"Not because people are difficult but because everyone has their own subjective opinion or view on what the best way is to entertain someone for the time allotted. But with her and I, if we're not thinking the exact same thing, we're thinking the opposites in a way that complements what we're trying to achieve, and I think that is personal chemistry more than anything and it translated to business, which is awesome."

Scarlett had seemed to tease her debut along with Kross a week after his debut, but there has been no clear indication that she will debut anytime soon. Kross later revealed if it is difficult to turn off work and personal life while on the job.

"When we're at work, we're completely off, and we have a work gear. When we're at work, we don't really discuss anything personal whatsoever," Kross revealed. "It's not difficult for either one of us. We're trying to give 110% of our energy for the performance. It's almost like if you go to the gym with your buddy. When you go to the gym with your buddy, you don't talk about anything negative.

"You're going to put yourself under resistance. It's going to be rough for the time you're going to be there. You're going to train really hard. You don't bring up anything negative. What you're going to do with the workload is going to be difficult enough. When her and I are at work, there's no negativity going on whatsoever. It's not even a conversation either. It's just the way we work.

"I think we were like that before we met, and when we come home, periodically, if an idea comes up, we discuss it. We write it down, and we leave them on a piece of paper so we don't have to retain it and think about it all day, so we just very organically have a very easy structured system. Her and I like to be outdoors quite a bit. If we can, we'll go to the beach, or prior to traveling being all crazy, we travel quite a bit as well, which we're looking forward to getting back to but no issue there."
