Filipino singer-actor Gerald Santos is reprising the role of Thuy, Kim’s Vietnamese soldier fiancé, in the stage musical production of Miss Saigon Denmark.

Santos first portrayed the villainous character in the tragic love story of Kim and American soldier Chris set during the Vietnam war in the mega-musical staged in the UK and Ireland tour of Miss Saigon back in 2017 to 2019.

The Philippines’ Prince of Ballad will be in the new production of Miss Saigon at Det Ny Teater, Denmark’s only privately run theater and the most visited theater in the country, scheduled to be staged from February 9 to June 3, 2023.

In his post on Instagram last August where he confirmed his participation in the new Miss Saigon, Gerald Santos recalled being overwhelmed during his first portrayal of Thuy since it was all happening for the first time. This time in Denmark, the theater actor promises he will enjoy it more.

Gerald Santos says he is proud to once again raise the Philippine flag with his world-class talent. He has also been practicing his songs in Danish, one of the world’s hardest languages to learn.

Miss Saigon was originally produced In English by Cameron Mackintosh and is based on the original French text of Alain Boublil and music by Claude-Michel Schönberg.

Miss Saigon is one of the most celebrated international musical plays in the Philippines after placing Tony Award-winning Lea Salonga on the world entertainment map as the first to portray Kim in the West End premiere back in 1989.

Since then many Filipinos have taken part in the international productions of Miss Saigon like Leo Valdez as The Engineer, Aicelle Santos and Rachelle Ann Go as Gigi, and Easter Sunday star Eva Noblezada as Kim.

Gerald Santos is set to leave for Copenhagen later this year in preparation for the staging. He will be joined by fellow Filipino theater actors Joreen Bautista and Winchester Lopez.

SEND WELL WISHES in the comments below to Filipino singer-actor Gerald Santos for once again raising the Philippine flag overseas as he reprises his role as Thuy in Miss Saigon Denmark!
