Who are the tampa bay buccaneers playing today

The Bills got their signature win last night vs. the defending champs. Ed Werder joins to preview Bucs/Cowboys on Sunday Night. Ryan Fitzpatrick joins to talk about how much he loves watching Josh Allen & expectations for Tua this season. The guys make their ESPN Radio Pick 'Em picks to finish out the show.

In the 18 Super Bowls played between 2002 and 2019, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots represented the AFC in exactly half of them. Brady switched conferences following the 2019 season to join Tampa Bay ... and has since started for the NFC in half of those Super Bowls, too. So it's fitting that this year, just as it has for over two decades, the fate of a conference turns on Tom Brady. Our model projects the Bucs and the Green Bay Packers as favorites to represent the conference in Arizona for Super Bowl LVII.  Read on to see how the rest of the NFC teams fared in our Elo forecast's first batch of 50,000 season simulations: How we're predicting the NFC East race chance to team elo rating proj. record make playoffs win division win super bowl Cowboys 1557 10-7 62% 37% 5% Eagles 1533 10-7 58 34 4 Commanders 1477 8-9 40 18 2 Giants 1435 7-10 28 12 1 Simulations as of Sept. 7, 2022. After a disappointing 6-10 season in 2020, the Dallas Cowboys clinched the NFC East last year with two weeks left to play. Led by quarterback Dak Prescott, the Cowboys went 12-5 during the season with its offense averaging 31 points per game, topping the league. Not to be outdone, their third-ranked defense (by EPA) was stout and opportunistic, leading...

  • McCollum (hamstring) will not play in the Buccaneers' season-opening matchup against the Cowboys, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

McCollum has been nursing a hamstring injury since mid-August. There is no surprise with his absence, as he was a non-participant at practice all week. He is expected to contribute on special teams and provide depth in the secondary when healthy.

  • Gage (hamstring) is "likely to play" in Sunday's game at Dallas despite being listed as questionable, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Gage was limited in practice Wednesday through Friday, but he's been participating in some capacity since the end of August or early September after injuring his hamstring Aug. 10 during a scrimmage. Chris Godwin (knee) also is listed as questionable for Sunday night, while Mike Evans and Julio Jones are good to go. Gage may enjoy catching passes from QB Tom Brady, but it's possible the former Falcon slips to fourth on the depth chart if all four are ever healthy at the same time.

  • Ryan (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's season opener against the Cowboys.

Ryan was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday, but he was a full-go Friday and will be available to make his Buccaneers debut Sunday. The veteran defensive back is expected to garner a depth role behind Antoine Winfield and Mike Edwards, but he could carve out a larger role as he becomes more familiar with his new squad.

  • Edwards (illness) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's season opener against the Cowboys.

Edwards landed on the injury report Thursday as a limited participant with an illness. However, he logged a full practice Friday and will be good to go for Week 1. Jordan Whitehead left in free agency this offseason, leaving Edwards to compete with newcomer Logan Ryan for the starting safety spot next to Antoine Winfield. It appears the incumbent Edwards has won the starting gig to start the campaign, but Ryan and Keanu Neal could push him for playing time if he struggles in his expanded role.

  • Bernard (ankle) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game at Dallas.

After opening Week 1 prep with back-to-back limited sessions, Bernard practiced in full Friday, indicating the Buccaneers may have been holding him back for maintenance reasons more than anything. In a backfield led by Leonard Fournette that also rosters rookie Rachaad White and Ke'Shawn Vaughn, Bernard may be hard-pressed to see much action Sunday, assuming he's active.
