[German]Brief information, after a blog reader send me a question/hint. Samsung has teamed up with Microsoft and will soon host the Samsung Cloud at OneDrive. That raises concerns that Samsung Cloud users may facing similar issues like OneDrive users: Microsoft could lock an OneDrive account without notification, claiming violation of terms of use. Here's some information sorted out about that. Show Microsoft takes over the Samsung CloudI had reported it in August 2020 in the German article Samsung Cloud verwirft Premium-Speicher, setzt auf OneDrive (Samsung Cloud discards premium storage, relies on OneDrive). The company is simply going away with the Gallery Sync and Drive storage features on Samsung smartphones. New users will no longer be able to book the features in question since October 2020. However, there is the option to migrate to OneDrive or download the own data. Users who have a premium storage subscription plan with Samsung will have it automatically canceled, and there will be a refund of the overpaid fees, if applicable. As of April 2021, the features can no longer be used and OneDrive migration support ended. On June 30, 2021, Samsung will delete the data that was stored in the Samsung Cloud. The crux with the OneDrive account lockoutsI had addressed it within the article mentioned above, that users have the option to move to Microsoft's OneDrive to store it's photos, but should first read my article Microsoft's account suspensions and the OneDrive 'nude' photos. Problem is, Microsoft scans the OneDrive content, and locks out users without a warning, if a violation of its terms of service (TOS) is detected or assumed. Then the content is lost – and there is no defined procedure to get back control. A reader's hintGerman blog reader Alex F. emailed me the day before yesterday, reminding me of the very scenario that is stuck here in the blog and briefly outlined above. Alex wrote:
First, no, I have not heard of this new problem, but that means nothing. And there are cases, where the OneDrive accounts are locked, after users has uploaded huge amount of data – the scenario, that is typical for syncing with OneDrive to upload photos obtained from the Samsung cloud. I got some feedback, that also larger uploads could trigger Onedrive account locks. Thanks to Alex for reminding me that the topic is still pending.

Why? from AndroidQuestions Thank you Vía for your information.Hey jayshanoc,As explained by Vía, some services provided by Samsung Cloud will be terminated and these services will be supported by Microsoft OneDrive. So you need to connect with your Microsoft OneDrive account to transfer Samsung Cloud data to OneDrive before losing it. Please follow the information and instructions from the link provided by Vía. Just recently I've started to receive an annoying notification on my S20 telling me to 'Check my Microsoft account' which is trying to get me to link a Microsoft account to my device. I don't want to. Yet this notification will not stop no matter how many times I dismiss it. All notifications for any Samsung apps on the phone are switched on and greyed out so I can't turn them off. This one appears to be coming from Samsung Cloud. Does anyone know how to stop this notification besides actually linking a Microsoft account? Why do Samsung insist on forcing garbage down it's users throats? Why should I have to link a Microsoft account? These notifications are tantamount to harrasment. I wouldn't be expected to put up with constant phone calls or text message telling me to do this, so why should I have to put up with these constant notifications interrupting my day? I'm effectively being held to ransom by Samsung. If I don't do what they want me to, they are going to continue to harras me. Samsung - stop this nonsense. Allow people to choose for themselves! Page 2I'm in the same boat. A few months after I got my S20, it started. It's been like 2 months, and the ***** thing won't go away. Most options are grayed out, and everything I unselect (that I can unselect), including force stop, within minutes it simply comes back again and resets itself to show notifications, etc. It doesn't make sense. Two months ago, I had a different incessant pop-up notification that seems to have enraged thousands of other users too. Then one day it magically stopped. I keep thinking that whenever I update my phone they will finally send a fix for this new Samsung Cloud one, and yet they just don't. I've had other issues and complaints on this forum, and Samsung simply stopped helping and replying. Never, in my nearly 25 years of having cell phones, have I had a phone with so many problems as with Samsung. In fact, I don't remember really having ANY problems with other phones. But from day one with Samsung, it's always been something. It blows my mind that this is such a respected brand. These things should be simple. SAMSUNG, please FIX THIS!
