How many images of candle will be formed if it is placed between two mirrors placed perpendicular to each other?

Last updated at June 11, 2021 by Teachoo

Answer

When two mirrors are at an angle X,

The Number of Images is given by

Number of Images = (360/X) - 1

Degree

No of Images

0

(360/0) - 1 = ∞ Infinity

When two mirrors are placed parallel to each other, then an infinite number of images are formed.

Hence, Infinite images of the candle will be formed because of multiple reflections between the mirrors.

(a) iris

(b) cornea

(c) lens

(d) retina

Answer

Iris controls the amount of light entering the eye by adjusting the size of pupil.

So, (a) is correct

We can see a non-luminous object when light:

(a) emitted by the object falls on the eye.

(b) is reflected from the object towards our eye.

(c) completely passes through the object.

(d) gets completely absorbed by the object

Answer

In a non-luminous object, light is reflected from other objects

So, (b) is correct

Light is falling on surfaces  S 1   S 2 and  S 3 as shown in the figure.

How many images of candle will be formed if it is placed between two mirrors placed perpendicular to each other?

Surfaces on which the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection is/are

(a) Only S 1

(b) S 1 and S 2

(c) S 2 and S 3

(d) All the three surfaces

Answer

Laws of reflection are always followed, irrespective of the type of surface.

Hence, angle of incidence is equal to angle of reflection in all three cases.

So, (d) is correct

Which of the following statements is correct regarding rods and cones in the human eye?

(a) Cones are sensitive to dim light.

(b) Cones are sensitive to bright light.

(c) Rods are sensitive to bright light.

(d) Rods can sense colour

Answer

We know that

  • Cones - They are sensitive to bright light.
  • Rods - They are sensitive to dim light

So, (b) is correct

Name the part of the eye which gives colour to the eyes

Answer

Iris is the part of the eye which gives color

How many times is a ray of light reflected by two plane mirrors placed parallel and facing each other?

Answer

Since the two mirrors are parallel,

the ray of light is reflected infinite number of times

Which of the following works on the concept of multiple reflections?

  1. Telescope
  2. Binoculars
  3. Kaleidoscope
  4. Sunglasses

Answer

Kaleidoscope works on the principle of multiple reflections.

Video transcript

hello everyone or welcome to yet another lido homework session in today's class, we are going to be doing a science problem so let's begin with The Question Here's the question that says how many images of a candle will be formed if it is placed between two parallel plane Mirror separated by 40 centimeters so as you can see here i have two i have two you see here i have two plane mirrors so this is my first plane mirror and this is my second plane mirror okay and in between that I am placing my candle okay so this is my candle and these are my plane mirrors so these are my plane mirrors and in between is a candle and these plane mirrors are separated by 40 centimeters okay now they are asking us how many images of the scandal will there be? formed if we keep two plane mirrors parallel to each other so can you think of how many images it will provide us exactly so the answer is Infinite image infinite image so infinite images it will provide and why is that so let us know the reason why the plane mirrors would give us infinite image the reason is that for any two parallel plane mirrors for any two plane mirrors or when kept Parallelly irrespective of their distance they will provide us infinite images so let's write them down When the two went to plain Mirrors mirror when two plane mirrors placed parallel to each other parallel to each other parallel to each other irrespective respect irrespective of their distance of their distance will provide will provide infinite solution in finite images okay so if we want to get infinite images we just have to place plane mirrors parallel to each others and thereby we would get our infinite images so here I have got my Infinite images of cattle So, friends, I hope you have understood. the question as well as the solution so if you have any doubts or queries please comment below and if you would like this video give it a thumbs up and for further such videos, please subscribe to this channel till then thank you all
