Elizabeth arden vitamin c capsules before and after

Hyaluronic acid and vitamin C are hero ingredients in skincare. But did you know that they work better when paired with a moisturising ally? Elizabeth Arden's Ceramide Serum Capsules pair vitamin C and hyaluronic acid with ceramides, a naturally occurring lipid in our skin that helps to maintain the skin barrier and retain moisture. Fun fact: Elizabeth Arden herself pioneered the use of ceramides in topical skincare almost 30 years ago! It’s the reason why skincare lovers rave about their ceramide serums (that come in the ideal premeasured capsules) up to now.

The latest to join the Serum Capsule family is the Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsule Hydra-Plumping Serum (~AUD168.83), which hydrates and plumps up the skin. For brightening and evening out the skin tone, there is the Vitamin C Radiance Renewal Serum (~AUD168.83). There's also the Advanced Ceramide to nourish and firm and Retinol Ceramide to smooth and refine skin.

Curious to see how these fare? Head of Content Becks Ko and Beauty Features Writer Alyana Olivar give their latest serums — the Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C — their honest review to see if they’re worth the investment.

Review: Elizabeth Arden Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsule Hydra-Plumping Serum

Elizabeth arden vitamin c capsules before and after

Elizabeth Arden’s newest ceramide capsule contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump up your skin.

"You can count me in on trying anything with hyaluronic acid," Becks shared. "Add on ceramides, another superstar ingredient to help with strengthening, hydrating and plumping the skin and I’ll be raring to go." Elizabeth Arden calls this potent combination their Double-Locked Hydration System™ — the hyaluronic acid draws moisture while the ceramides seal it in — designed to prevent your skin from getting dehydrated or experiencing transepidermal water loss. It made her "look forward" to seeing how this hydrating serum can keep her combination skin nicely balanced.

Aside from the serum's ingredients, Becks was also drawn to its packaging. "I love the biodegradable, single-dose capsules since I know I always get the correct amount each time," she added. She observed that the serum has a "smooth and silky texture" similar to that of a make-up primer or dry oil. "It feels rather rich and I definitely felt a layer of product on my skin after application"." She also noted that while it takes a while to be fully absorbed, it does not feel oily or uncomfortable. In fact, it makes her skin feel "so soft" afterwards when the product has fully absorbed into the skin.

The hyaluronic acid serum has a rich, thick consistency.

In the beginning, Becks used the serum once a day at night for a few days before transitioning to using it twice a day. "I switched back to using it once a day at night as I tend to favour a snappy morning skincare routine because, ahem, busy working mum," she explained. Since it takes a while to sink into the skin, she did have the time to wait in between skincare steps for this serum to be part of her daytime skincare regimen.

Now that it's been two weeks since she started using the serum, Becks said while she "did not see any obvious changes" in her skin’s appearance, it does a good job of "balancing the moisture level of my skin". The serum made the drier areas of her face hydrated without adding extra shine to the oilier areas. She recommends it for anyone looking for a hydrating serum to maintain their skin's general health.

Review: Elizabeth Arden Vitamin C Ceramide Capsule Radiance Renewal Serum

Elizabeth arden vitamin c capsules before and after

It only takes one of these golden capsules to cover your face, neck, and upper chest.

Of all skincare ingredients, vitamin C has become my non-negotiable. It's an antioxidant (bye, UV- and pollution-caused ageing) that helps with uneven skin tone, dullness and hydration. Overall, it has great anti-ageing benefits that anyone of any age can benefit from. Since I’ve only heard good things about the Elizabeth Arden Vitamin C Ceramide Capsules, I was eager to see if it would live up to its positive reputation.

This popular vitamin C serum — which supposedly is 178 times more potent than traditional vitamin C — claims to brighten and even out your skin, protect it from free radicals, and minimise dark spots. I was most invested in its glow-giving perks with lightening pigmentation a close second.

The serum has a lightweight, oily texture — Elizabeth Arden describes it as a "dry oil" — that absorbs well into my skin. There was a bit of residue left on my face and palms afterwards, so I waited for a minute or so before applying my moisturiser. I also apply SPF to boost its efficacy. I didn't notice any pilling from layering my products. There was also no irritation after the first week of use. Once my skin adjusted to the newbie in my routine, it was all smooth-sailing.

It has a runny, oily consistency that easily absorbs when massaged into your skin.

Initial effects include a subtle glow and increased moisture. The most noticeable difference, however, was how soft the skin on my face and neck felt throughout the day. I even gave some capsules to my mum, who has more mature skin, and she reported the same.

So did these Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules give me the glow I was looking for? If you want to look dewy and awake, it certainly delivers a bit of glow upon applying. I noticed that this effect lasts for most of the morning before my oily combo skin's afternoon shine takes over. Even then, I didn't look greasy.

When it comes to dark spots, I do think I would need to use it more to see. On average, it takes six months to a year for dark spots to fade on their own. While vitamin C can help lighten hyperpigmentation, it will take more time to see its effects on my tan skin tone.

If you're curious to try any of the serums, both are available in Elizabeth Arden boutiques, their official Shopee store, and iShopChangi.com in Singapore.

Skincare isn't exactly easy — not only do you have to find products that actually work and suit your skin type, you also have to figure out the correct amount to ensure you’re getting the most out of whatever you have finally chosen. It's... a lot.

Which is precisely why capsule skincare is making it big at the moment.

I know what you’re thinking: why capsule skincare? And what even is it?

Well, Elizabeth Arden has a whole range of capsule skincare that is designed specially to skip all the fluff to ultimately take the guess work out of skincare.

You end up with products that are sealed from light and air, meaning ingredients stay fresh for longer and are more powerful when it’s time to use them.

Not only that, but the pre-measured and portable packaging means that you are always getting the precise measurement for the best results. Oh, and did we mention the capsules are biodegradable too?

Elizabeth Arden’s range of single-dose serum capsules are designed to address various skin concerns.

To see if they’re worth the hype, each of us trialled a different formula from the range, based on our individual skin goals, for two weeks.

Here’s our verdict.

Laura: Vitamin C Ceramide Capsules Radiance Renewal Serum

For brighter skin and protection against premature aging.

I’m now starting to hit my late 20s and good skincare has become even more important in maintaining my ultimate skincare goal of keeping my skin looking fresh for as long as possible.

I am always after something that is going to reduce my pigmentation and even my skin tone, while also leaving me with a brighter, healthier looking complexion.

That's why I was so keen to try out the Vitamin C capsules. They are specially designed to brighten the skin, diminish dullness and fight hyper pigmentation, and they are heavenly to use!

After just two weeks I am already loving myself sick.

The best part though is that my skin is just glowing. It looks fresh, plump and I have noticed that some of my scarring and pigmentation is starting to clear up as well. I am just obsessed!

The capsules are super easy to use: just twist until they ‘pop’ and then massage into the skin. The dry oil formula is hydrating and nourishing, which has been just what my dry skin has needed, especially coming into the cooler months.

For visibly firmer, smoother, healthy-looking skin.

Ever since turning 30, I noticed my skin just wasn’t the way it was when I was in my 20s – sounds obvious, but it was as if I really noticed and felt the change when I ticked into the new decade.

My skin just wasn’t as tight in certain places, it began getting dry in others, and don’t even talk to me about those fine lines. WHERE did they come from? I swear it was as if they sprouted overnight.

I’ve been using the Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum for two weeks now and the difference it has made to my skin has been incredible.

The serum has a consistency of a rich oil which is both lightweight and silky smooth to apply.

These advanced ceramide capsules are formulated with ingredients that mimic the skin’s moisture barrier structure meaning it both replenishes and restores what the skin often loses with age which definitely ticks all the boxes for my skincare needs! I added the serum to my evening skin routine (it can be used night and day) and loved the way it felt on my skin.

Immediately on application I could feel how nourishing the serum was – just look at my before and after to see how my skin is noticeably dewier and glowing. In just two weeks my skin is feeling firmer, those pesky little fine lines have been kept at bay, and my skin is feeling more youthful than ever.

For plumper, firmer and more hydrated skin.

When I stumbled across the Elizabeth Arden Hyaluronic Acid Plumping Serum capsules, my parched skin cried out in joy.

You see, I’ve tried just about every hydrating product to land on my desk... and as a writer in women's media foraging in lifestyle on the occasion, that’s been a good number.

But here’s the problem. My skin is red, dry, and angry. Like, really angry. I mean, take a look at my before photo:

Dry patches a plenty. Image: Supplied.

But then there was a bit of a plot twist, one my skin wasn't expecting: the Elizabeth Arden Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsules came into my life.

My sensitive skin was oh-so-nervous to try out a new product, particularly amidst a season-changing flare up, but from the first use I could tell these powerful capsules meant business.

My first impression of the product was that it. Is. Luxe.

Elizabeth Arden’s capsule design is not only beautiful sitting in my cupboard, but it’s also efficient.

For a product with such power, every drop counts and that’s why the dosage-style packaging is so useful.

After cleansing my face, I pop the serum on damp skin and, I cannot understate this, this product feels like a light, silky dream.

Next, I let my skin drink her up, pop a moisturiser on and voilà! Job well done, morning and night.

There’s an immediate glow to my skin after using the serum, plus it sits delightfully under makeup.
