We're taking our Airstream out for a "soft launch" (after 1 year renovation) to work out the kinks, and one of the things I've discovered is that I can't figure out how to lite the oven! It's a Magic Chef unit with 4 burner cooktop and 21'' oven below that. Here's what I see inside the oven that looks like something I should be able to lite with a lighter: 1955 Size: 65.8 KB ID: 249050" style="margin: 2px" /> Any tips? |

Once your pilot light is lit, you can then turn the knob to whichever setting you want. __________________ Cameron & the Labradors, Kai & Samm North Vancouver, BC Live! Just move the match around the pilot light burner 'til it lights. It probably won't light immediately. You'll hafta play around with it a little bit. If the pilot won't light, the oven burner itself will eventually light (from the match). When it does, it'll also light the pilot light. When the oven burner lights at 140 bake, leave it on for a while - get all the air out of the propane lines. BTW - Make sure the pilot light on the stove top is also lit. Tom |

1 Rivet Member 1985 31' Limited Join Date: Sep 2015 Posts: 7 | How to lite Magic Chef RV oven First use a butane type stick lighter or long fire-place matches. Next bleed air from propane line to range by opening valve to a top burner while holding flame next to top burner, after air is purged and burner is lite let it operate a couple of minutes, then close the valve. Next open oven door and locate the oven pilot assembly front center of oven burner for reference, The oven control knob is on far left side of control panel The knob is marked OFF-oven pilot on and 170* thru 450* degrees F and B for broil. The knob will only turn counter-clock-wise when pushed in and vise-versa clock-wise rotation. Push & turn knob to just pass oven pilot on with flame (match) next to pilot assembly on oven burner, pilot should lite in couple of minutes after air is purged, continue holding flame on pilot as the unit has a mercury safety valve which must be heated to a temp the mercury boils. The pilot will not stay lite until this is accomplished! A pilot that will not stay lite indicates not long enough pre heat (mercury) air, or a defective oven control valve merc switch failure or plugged oven pilot orifice. Pre-heating can also be accomplished buy turning control to 170* on knob, it will heat faster due to oven burner will come on & help speed heating of merc switch. Please be care full when working with propane gas, as it is heaver than air & tends to fall down rather than up like some other gases we are familiar with! Remember to push knob in to rotate! |

My question is, does anyone know if the door is stainless steel or chromed? A magnet sticks to it, but it could be a poorer quality of SS. If it's SS then I could polish it up good?? __________________ |
