Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews

Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Desperado Roller Coaster - CLOSED

During our check of Buffalo Bills Resort & Casino, we found this giant, yellow Desperado Roller Coaster had ceased operations in February 2020 due to severe maintenance issues. According to Affinity Gaming, the roller coaster will remain closed “until further notice”.

I rode it shortly before it closed down. It was painfully jarring, report of someone breaking ribs after I rode it. I can believe it. It was exciting and dangerous. Probably good thing it is shut down.

My god! I have never felt like I was going to die while riding a roller coaster! Rough, old and wild! I’m glad this thing is closed down! Hopefully it never re-opens! Don’t go on this bad boy if you value your life!

It's CLOSED and no plans to re-open. August 2020 date of this comment

Rode this coaster a long time ago and it was fun. But, they've shut it down and have no estimated dates for re-opening. In fact, the hotel where it's located, Buffalo Bill's Resort, is also closed.

Was looking forward to riding the Desperado roller coaster while in Primm. Completely gutted that it is closed and likely closed for good. What a disappointment.

Desperado Closed - Run Down Casino

At the time of this review, there was nothing online nor someone to speak to over the phone to get information. After rolling the dice (metaphor) and driving out there assuming the best, absolutely no rides were open. Not even the log ride. I have fond memories of riding the desperado April of 2017, and while I remember it being a rough and bumpy ride, I didn't think it would be closed. I also took the elevator up to the "train Station" to ride the people mover over to the other casino. It was a throwback to 1994 in a bad way. Everything was sad, worn out, and tired from the seating, smell of hydrolic elevator fluid, and dated announcements on board the people mover. The arcade area was a joke, seeing arcade machines that could have been original with the building! Most were broken and duck-taped together in some way or another. Not even the carpet was spared! Ouch!If you need an excuse to get out of your car on the way to Las Vegas to laugh or loath the circumstances of Buffalo Bills Casino, this is a great stop. Nothing lasts forever. Reminds me of a dead mall but with the aroma of cigarettes.

In summary, Main attraction (Desperado) closed, Casino worn out, everything needs updating/maintenance.

Stopped by Primm on Saturday morning, asked if they would be running the coaster at all. The response was, "probably not, it's been like 6 months." So don't waste your time. There is nothing on their website to indicate that the coaster or any of the attractions are not open. It's sad to see Buffalo Bills fall into such disarray. I wanted to take my kids on the coaster, it was a fun childhood memory I wanted them to experience.

Visit to Primm, NV to ride the Desperado Roller Coaster.

Call before going to Primm. If it's too windy, the coaster will be closed. However, if you're seeking a hair raising, mind blowing coaster ride, this is it. It will zoom you down at 80 mph. It's not very expensive. But I feel the price is worth the ride.

Fantastic rollercoaster but poorly managed

I love the roller coaster. I just wish it was available more hours. The times were not listed online and I could not get someone on the phone to verify if the roller coaster was running before going out there. We made a special trip out there from the LV strip, when we got to the ticket booth, we found a handwritten white board that the roller coaster and log ride ran every other hour Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We purchased our tickets but the ride did not start on time. We waited 30 minutes before our 1:00 ride time and then another 25 minutes till we were let upstairs to line up. The ride was great but there was no offer to ride it again for the delay or apology. I am afraid this will be my last ride unless management makes this attraction a main event rather than an after thought.

Saturday at the Buffalo Bill casino

We went to the casino on a Saturday so grandkids could enjoy the roller coaster only to be informed that all rides were closed except for the log ride which was $10 per person.

All employees we dealt with were quite unpleasant, not helpful at all. We won’t be back!!

How much is the roller coaster per person? Are there any coupons out there for it?

I don’t think there any coupons available. (I did look and couldn’t find any.) The cost for riding the “Desperado” roller coaster [once] is $8 per person. Per my review, wristbands are available that allow you to ride all of the rides, unlimited.
