    I'm glad it's resolved.

    I assume that fixing the reconfiguration problem also made that font error go away.

    Just for the benefit of any Office 2007 users landing on this thread in the future, the Office 2007 version of this fix is given in constant reconfiguration (post #3) - TenForums

    It did indeed, Word now loads up straight away without any messages at all.

Open regedit..
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Options..
Create new DWORD called NoReReg..
Give it a hexadecimal value of 1..
