Who is chuck bass mom

On the anniversary of his father's fake death, Chuck spots Elizabeth putting flowers on his father's grave. This leads him to go on a hunt to find her and she tells him that she is his real mother. Then Chuck's hotel, the Empire, started getting bad press and he had no choice but to sign his hotel over to his mother. It turns out that his mother was working with his evil uncle, Jack Bass, at the time and Jack just wanted Chuck's hotel. This lead to the breakup of Chuck and Blair and his whole world started to fall apart. Chuck traded Blair for his hotel back and he realized it was the worst mistake of his life. Elizabeth told Chuck that she wasn't his real mother and then left him, alone. Then in season 5 it was revealed that Elizabeth was his real mother.

WARNING: If you have yet to watch Monday’s Gossip Girl, avert your eyes now. Everyone else, you may proceed….

Lola’s scheme to unmask Serena as Gossip Girl in last night’s episode inadvertently led to another major reveal: Diana Payne (guest star Elizabeth Hurley) is Chuck’s mother!

Season Finale Spoilers: Scoop on 52 Big Finishes (Including Gossip Girl)

“You have been in New York for months, inviting me to parties, hiring my friends, hanging out in my apartment in your underwear” — hello, awkward! — “banging my best friend,” Chuck yelled at her. “Did it not occur to you to mention this? That you were my mother?”

The big bombshell was dropped during Blair and Dan’s coming out party and was broadcast live to the infamous blogger’s website, which only made the humiliation worse. Diana tried to smooth things over by explaining her decision to stay mum to Chuck: She was young, easily swept away by Bart Bass’ charm, yet ill-equipped to raise a child. Bart’s wife Elizabeth, on the other hands, couldn’t have kids. Problem solved! Unfortunately, Elizabeth couldn’t bear raising a son who wasn’t her own and ran off.

“You know where to find me,” Diana told Chuck, dropping the ball in his court.

And there’s even more to the story. “We both know that’s not the secret I was talking about,” Gossip Girl texted to Diana. Meanwhile, judging from the promo for next week’s episode, her new title as Chuck’s mom isn’t going to stop Diana from hitting on his buddie Nate. Boys, may we suggest some new house ground rules to avoid any embarrassing run-ins?

So what else do you think Diana is hiding, Gossip Girl fans? And were you sad to see Nate and Lola’s brief romance become a casualty of the reveal?

Were Dan and Blair able to overcome their differences? And who found out Serena is actually Gossip Girl? Find out...

By Tierney Bricker Apr 17, 2012 4:27 AM

Poor Chuck (Ed Westwick)!

Yes, we're pretty sure these words were uttered by nearly everyone watching Gossip Girl tonight when our favorite Basstard was completely blindsided by a shocking revelation: the true identity of his mother! Yeah, the rest of the season just got 10 times more interesting for Chuck!

Plus, were  Dan (Penn Badgley) and Blair (Leighton Meester) able to meld their two worlds together or are they just too different to make their relationship work? And who finally found out Serena (Blake Lively) is Gossip Girl? Here's what we learned in tonight's episode...

MotherChucker: The big secret everyone no one saw coming is finally out: Diana (Elizabeth Hurley) is Chuck's real mother! (Take that, season three!) Though Diana did everything she could to prevent Chuck from finding out the truth, this is Gossip Girl and the truth always comes out. We're pretty sure receiving a Gossip Girl blast isn't the best way to learn who your mother is and Chuck is understandably upset. (Props to Westwick for some truly awesome work tonight!)

"You have been in New York for months...banging my best friend, did it not occur you to mention this? I can't do this right now, or ever. I can't," a devastated Chuck tells Diana. The British bombshell visits Chuck later and comes clean: She had an affair with Chuck's father Bart, but decided to let Bart and Elizabeth, who was unable to have children, raise her baby as their own. Her explanation for sleeping with Nate (Chace Crawford) just a room away from her bio son? Diana says, "I didn't intend for things to get as serious as they did." Respect!

But wait! Turns out, being Chuck's mother isn't Diana's only secret! Hmmm...what dirt does Gossip Girl have on her?

Bitter, Party of One? Serena, aka the "Blonde Unabomber," is less than thrilled by Lola's (Ella Rae Peck) new It girl status and decides to go all Mean Girls on her cousin by posting a nasty rumor about Ivy on Gossip Girl, so she'll lose out on the audition of a lifetime. Of course, it doesn't take long for Lola to put two and two together and realizes Serena must be G.G. and thus begins her unapproved (by Nate) vendetta to out Serena.

When Serena talks to Diana about her role in saving Chuck's life at Blair's soiree, Lola records the conversation and posts it on Gossip Girl, including the part where Diana reveals she's Chuck's mother. Big mistake, Lola. Huge! Though she's glad she hurt Serena, Lola doesn't tell Nate that her cousin is Gossip Girl. "I knew it would hurt him if he found out," Lola later explains of not telling Nate about Serena's double-life, before revealing she's done with the UES. Nate loses another love interest? Shocking!

Dan and Blair Debut! The couple, inspired by the "Brangelina of the five boroughs," decide to throw a salon as their official coming out as a couple, as it's the perfect blend of uptown and downtown, just like them! Of course, this is Gossip Girl, where no party is complete without some drama, which is provided by Serena, Lola, Nate, Chuck and Diana who all bring all their various storylines as their plus-ones. How rude!

Blair tries to maintain a stiff upper lip throughout their debut, but when Diana's big reveal brings the party to an end, she thinks it means there's no world for them to be a couple in. Still, Dan is unwavering and shows up at Blair's, overnight bag in hand. "I was hoping to have a sleepover with you," Dan says. "Our relationship is our world...we have to face these disasters together. We're a team." So what does their sleepover consist of? Pretentious pillow talk about literature! So this is what a (mostly) adult relationship looks like!

Rufus Grows a Pair: Rufus (Matthew Settle) is sick of being a Real Househusband of the Upper East Side and he's not going to take it anymore...until Lily (Kelly Rutherford) comes and apologizes! Alas, their reunion hits a snag when Lily finds out Rufus has been putting Ivy (Kaylee Defer) up in a hotel since Lily tricked her out of the apartment in the last episode. "With my money?" Lily accuses, basically confirming Rufus' suspicions that he's nothing more than a trophy hubby to her. Insult to injury? Lily later cancels his debit card! Rufus must be toast, 'cause he just got burned! Rufus and Lily's relationship is in real danger, y'all, so we know this must be Gossip Girl's darkest timeline. (Shudder!)

What did you think of tonight's episode? Were you shocked to learn that Diana is Chuck's real mother, or did you see the twist coming from a mile away? Sound off in the comments!

Oh my Bass!

On Monday night’s episode of Gossip Girl, Chuck Bass’ long-time search for his absent biological mother came to a surprising and unexpected end.

But instead of Chuck’s (Ed Westwick) personal private investigator delivering the news to him, the credit was given to his step-sister, Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively).

After eavesdropping in on media mogul Diana Payne’s (Elizabeth Hurley) phone conversation where she mentioned being at the hospital the night that Chuck was involved in a serious, near-fatal car accident, Serena realized that Diana was the family member who donated the blood that would save his life, making her his mother.

After putting two and two together and fact checking her assumptions at the hospital, Serena confronted Diana, in true Upper East Side fashion, at a party thrown by new hot couple Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) in Dan’s Williamsburg, Brooklyn apartment.

“I am Chuck’s mother,” Diana whispered after being interrogated by Serena. Unbeknownst to the pair, Serena’s newly discovered cousin Lola Rhodes (Ella Rae Peck) was live broadcasting their private conversation to Gossip Girl, which was sent out in a blast to everyone’s phone in the room.

As Diana walked towards her son, Chuck backed away, furious over the realization that his biological mom had been in New York for several months and was hooking up with Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford), who is also Chuck’s best friend — all without him knowing who she really was.

“I wanted to watch over you from afar,” Diana, who gave birth to Chuck while his father, Bart Bass (Robert John Burke), was married to another woman, told him later when she attempted to talk to him back at his Empire Hotel apartment.

“Nate’s bed is not that far,” Chuck responded, referring to his roommate Nate’s trysts with Diana.

Hopefully April 23’s episode will answer the question: Will Chuck, whose father is now dead, come around to the idea of a real mother-son relationship?
