The Memphis Grizzlies and the NBA have released the 2022-23 regular season and preseason schedules:
We knew the Grizzlies would play on Christmas Day for the first-time ever in a second round rematch against the reigning champion Golden State Warriors. In addition, they’d be opening the season at home against the New York Knicks on October 19th — crossing my fingers for the Donovan Mitchell trade to hit. They’d also be playing their annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 16th) celebration game against the Phoenix Suns on TNT.
With the whole schedule out, here are some quick notes:
- The Grizzlies will have 18 nationally televised games
- The Grizzlies battle the Golden State Warriors in a conference semifinals rematch on Christmas (away, ABC), 1/25 (away, ESPN), 3/9 (home, TNT), 3/18
- The Grizzlies will face the Minnesota Timberwolves in a first round rematch on 11/11 (home, ESPN), 11/30 (road), 1/27 (away), and 2/10
- Lakers come to town on 2/28
- Boston Celtics come to Memphis on 11/7
- Opening night against the Knicks will also be on ESPN.
There’s also this cool new thing the league is doing called “Rivals Week,” where the Grizzlies are playing the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors will play against the Memphis Grizzlies for their Friday night Game 6 matchup. The game will be played at 7pm PT in San Francisco and can be watched on ESPN.
Game 5 was one to forget for Golden State fans. The team was blown out by 39 points after losing to Memphis 134-95. There wasn’t much to analyze for that game. The Warriors couldn’t score, couldn’t rebound, and couldn’t stop turning the ball over on offense. They showed no urgency for a team that was up 3-1, going down by as much as 50 points during the game. The game was over early as the Warriors pulled their starters midway through the third quarter.
With Game 5 behind them, the Warriors look to bounce back for Game 6. If Golden State is going to win, they need to clean up the turnovers. The Grizzlies are a long and athletic team which helps them create turnovers on defense. Turnovers feed their offense because Memphis thrives in transition opportunities.
However, more importantly, the Warriors need to show more effort than what they did on Wednesday night. The team came out flat and looked content with bringing the series back home. For Game 6, look for Golden State to come out energized and focused on clinching an appearance in the Western Conference Finals.

Without Ja Morant, who was sidelined due to a bone bruise in his right knee, the Memphis Grizzlies held their own against the Golden State Warriors in Game 4 on Monday. In fact, the Grizzlies held the lead in this game for 47 minutes and 14.3 seconds.
Unfortunately for them, the Warriors took the lead with 45.7 seconds remaining in the game, they made their free-throws and they got a key defensive stop to escape Game 4 with a 101-98 victory over the Grizzlies.
Now, Golden State leads this series 3-1 heading back to Memphis for Game 5 on Wednesday.
Coming off a game in which they shot 62.4% from the floor, 53.1% from three-point range and scored 144 total points, the Warriors were ice-cold in Game 4, shooting just 40% from the floor and 24.3% from three-point range.
Klay Thompson continued to struggle on the offensive-end of the floor and while he ended up with 32 points, Stephen Curry struggled for a vast majority of the game to get anything to fall from outside the paint.
The key factor for the Warriors in this series has been Andrew Wiggins, as he had a very quiet 17 points on 7-13 shooting and 10 rebounds. He is now tied with Draymond Green for the most rebounds in this series and is proving why he is an All-Star wing in this league.
